Bremen Town Musicians
Date(s): Mar 09, 2010
When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
When a rag-tag group of actors get together to put on a production of The Bremen Town Musicians, they soon realize the work involved is more than they bargained for. Much like the animals in the original German fable, the performers must rely on friendship, creativity and imagination to fulfill their dreams. Created especially for younger viewers, this hour long performance is sure to delight, excite and produce lots of laughter. 828-524-1598 or Toll Free 866-273-4615, www.greatmountainmusic.com Randy Travis

When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
Like the Beatles in rock, Randy Travis marks a generational shift in country music. When his Storms of Life came out in 1986, country music was still wallowing in the post-urban cowboy recession, chasing elusive crossover dreams. Travis brought the music back to its basics, sounding like nothing so much as a perfect blend of George Jones and Merle Haggard. 828-524-1598 or Toll Free 866-273-4615, www.greatmountainmusic.com Blind Boys of Alabama with Fairfield Four

When: 7:30 p.m.
Where: Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts, Franklin
Old-time Gospel music circles are often marked by rigid conservatism and the dismissal of popular music as a worldly temptation of the Devil. The Blind Boys, by contrast, shun worldliness yet eagerly embrace the world, bringing spiritual music to secular audiences in order to spread their message. 828-524-1598 or Toll Free 866-273-4615, www.greatmountainmusic.com The Wizard of Oz
