Smokies Life, previously known as Great Smoky Mountains Association, is a non-profit organization established in 1953 and authorized by Congress to support the park’s educational, scientific and historical programs through sales of merchandise, donations and volunteer efforts. Based at park headquarters in Gatlinburg, Smokies Life operates heritage centers in several park gateway communities. Smoky Mountain Farmers & Artisans Market is held every Friday & Saturday, 9am - 2pm, at the Aquarium Park, May through October. Shop for local, fresh produce, baked goods, honey, preserves, and local crafts. A Holiday Market (artisans only) is held on certain Fridays & Saturdays Mid-November - Mid-December.

Elizabeth Ellison Gallery
This is a working studio, and you will enjoy exploring the gallery and talking with Elizabeth as she works on something new. Utilizing both traditional and oriental techniques -- and sometimes employing American Indian motifs, she depicts the varied wildflowers, animals, human inhabitants, and landscapes of the Smokies region. Elizabeth often uses some of the earth and sand from streams in the paintings, and frequently gathers and processes native Appalachian plants to make the handmade papers she uses in her paintings.

Stecoah Valley Center is also home to the Courtyard of the Cherokee - an outdoor arts and culture exhibit that authentically represents the seven clans of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Our bookstore shelves are stocked with donated, used books on a wide range of topics, best sellers, books by North Carolina authors, classics and autographed books, children’s books, puzzles, videos, DVDs and magazines. Bookstore hours: closed Mondays, noon-4pm Tuesday - Friday, 10am-4pm Saturday, and noon-4pm on Sunday.
