We are a small, private, non-profit, no-kill shelter dedicated to helping stray, abandoned and neglected dogs and cats in Swain County. As the only animal shelter in Swain County, we are unique because every animal gets one on one attention everyday and are not confined in cages! We are not subsidized by the county and rely solely on donations and income from our P.A.W.S. Thrift Shop to keep our furry friends happy, healthy and ready to go to their new home. Stecoah Valley Center's annual summer concert series, An Appalachian Evening (Saturdays, June thru August) offers an ever-changing schedule of bluegrass, folk and old-time mountain music by award-winning artists. Rippling Water Kennel is celebrating 25 years of providing experienced, personalized dog care for residents of Swain County and visitors to the Bryson City area. Located off the Little Tennessee River between Bryson City and Nantahala Gorge, Rippling Water offers day boarding as well as overnight/extended care in a peaceful, secluded mountain setting.
