As any quilter knows, getting those star points to meet perfectly is not an easy task. Painting them is only slightly easier, but this quilter wanted to “dress up” her favorite fabric store with a colorful quilt block. Star quilts are inspired by the Morning Star. Historically, star patterns were created by Native Americans with plant dyes and adorned buffalo hides and tipis. Later missionaries introduced textiles and sewing, and the star quilt was born. Typically they are a symbol of honor and generosity. Artist: Janet McDonald.
